ABOUT PETER TAY

Peter Tay. founder of Peter Tay Studio is the celebrity interior designer to stars, such as Zhang Ziyi, Stephanie Sun, Zoe Tay and Wang Lee Hom. His portfolio comprises high-profile residential and commercial projects. Peter Tay has worked on boutiques and showrooms for Richard Mille, Franck Muller, Manolo Blahnik, Armani Casa, Louis Poulsen, Poliform (Space Showroom) and Maxalto (Space Showroom), as well as luxury show flats for SC Global, HPL, Frasers Property, Keppel Land, Far East Organization, CapitaLand, GuocoLand and CDL including Irwell Hill Residences, BLVD, The Met in Bangkok, Martin Modern, Midtown Bay, Midtown Modern, Martin 38 Penthouse and Wallich Residence Super Penthouses in Singapore. His project comprises houses, residential apartments, boutiques, offices and show flats in Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Bangkok, Taipei, Hong Kong, Beijing and Shanghai.

Best known for his sleek yet luxurious approach to design, Peter Tay's designs are contemporary and timeless, and at the same time, they encapsulate the pure essence of space that delicately accentuates the lifestyles of his clientele. He also works on the art of tailoring timeless beauty through materials and textures, which serves to guide design invention and outlines the way in which forms transform over time to envelope life. Often, his designs bridge the perceptive space between interior and exterior spaces, and explore the duality and interchangeability between architecture and interiors.

 

 

After graduating from the prestigious Architectural Association in London in 2000. Peter Tay worked with some of the leading contemporary architects before starting his own practice in 2001. Peter Tay is also an educator and a keen supporter of design. He has been lecturing for the past 12 years at various design institutions. In 2013, Peter Tay published his first monograph, which was launched in Kyoto, Hong Kong and Singapore in the same year.

Peter Tay participated in the “Time-Space-Existence” exhibition at Palazzo Bembo at the Venice Biennale, Italy in 2014. The exhibition was supported by XTRA Designs and the Design Singapore Council.

Peter Tay won the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ for the SIDS (Society of Interior Designers Singapore), In 2023, he won the ‘Best Design Firm of the Year’ award as well.

The ‘Designer of the Year’ award at the President’s Design Awards 2014, which is the highest accolade design award in Singapore and the highest honour for designers & designs across all disciplines, was awarded to Peter Tay by the Design Singapore Council.
