Adoration Room, Church of St Peter & Paul (2006)

The adoration room is located in an old conservation building next to the Church of St. Peter & Paul, where it was previously used as the priests’ residence. The façade of the building is kept in its original condition, and the external windows are left unchanged.  As the original space was a small, dark room measuring 10m x 5m, a new internal shell – with lots of new openings with back lit LED light fittings – is created to illuminate the space. The back-lit Onyx wall on the right of the pulpit provides a source of illumination to the space.  The intensity of light changes with the time of the day, signalling the movement of time in prayer.
