Meta Restaurant (2016)

Occupying a 1,200 sqft space on the ground level of a conservation building on Keong Siak Road, Modern Korean restaurant Meta is the latest culinary establishment to join the trendy Bukit Pasoh area. Helmed by head chef Sun Kim, whose experience include the famed Tetsuya Wakuda in Sydney and Waku Ghin in Singapore, the food at Meta is a fusion of fine European cuisine with distinctive Korean accents.

Designed to provide an arty and engaging dining experience between the chefs, service staff and customers, the open kitchen stretches lengthwise through the narrow restaurant on one end, and full-height mirrored panels running through the space on the other. The reflective surfaces are employed to extend the space visually as well as allow the dining process to be viewed from multiple angles. Industrial elements–such as the recycled grated steel flooring, the steel-finish, high-gloss acrylic panelled ceiling, industrial metal lamps and the use of furniture–provide a contextual reference to the history of the area.
